Day 31: Feeling the Payoff of Training with an Effortless Recovery Run for a Cause
It's day 31 of my London Marathon 2023 training, and I have to say, I'm feeling pretty pleased with today's progress. It was recovery run time today, and I'll be honest with you, it was a pretty smooth experience. For the first time during this training program, a recovery run actually felt like a recovery run. I kept myself within the required heart rate zone 2, and my legs felt light and effortless.
Up until this point, every run has been a bit of a struggle, but today was different. I felt like I was gliding along, and my legs were moving with ease. This is a positive sign, and it gives me hope for the future as the mileage starts to increase. I'm feeling confident and excited about what's to come.
This training journey has been quite a ride so far, but today's recovery run was a welcome change. I've been pushing myself hard, and sometimes, it feels like my body is begging for a break. But today, I felt like I was moving with ease, and it was a nice change of pace. I'm starting to see the fruits of my labour, and it's a great feeling.
Recovery runs are an essential part of training for a marathon. They help your body recover from the more intense workouts, and they also allow you to build endurance and improve your overall running performance. I'm a firm believer in the importance of recovery runs, and I'm glad to see that they're starting to pay off for me.
In addition to recovery runs, I've also been incorporating other forms of cross-training into my routine. This includes strength training and the dreaded stationary bike. Cross-training is important because it helps to prevent injury, improves your overall fitness, and can help you overcome boredom (unless it's the stationary bike).
I also want to touch on the fact that I'm running to raise funds for the Sittingbourne Carnival Court. It provides opportunities for girls and young women in Sittingbourne to get involved in the local community and build leadership skills. I believe in the work that they will be doing, and I'm honoured to be a part of it. If you're able to make a donation, I would be eternally grateful. Every little bit helps, and I know that together, we can make a difference: https://gofund.me/6cee4f60
In conclusion, today was a great day in my training journey. The recovery run felt easy, and I'm feeling confident about what's to come. I'm excited to continue working hard, and I'm grateful for your support. Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I'll be back soon with another update. Cheers!
